3rd day of CNY

Early in the morning, I went for gym again. This time was better. I was alone and as if the whole gym is mine. After Yvonne & Nathan woke up, we went to hawker centre again for breakfast. We went to beach for a slow walk too. At the ferry, we saw some trading of prawns. Wow! The prawns are real fresh and alive. Thought of buying some from them but we doubt they will. Those who were buying were in kgs like 5 or 10s! All we need is maybe 1?? haha... better don't try.

We checked out at 12pm and last minute we decided to cook dinner for all guests who were coming in the evening. So we went to NTUC to do some shopping.

We had prawn soup noodles/ meehoon. Also the yu shan with abalone. Simple dinner for a group of 9 of us. Thanks to Aaron, Eng Wee, Jackie, Jocelyn and Joshua who came over. These are the group of youth that we had when we served in youth ministry. Of course not forgetting our good friends Eng Soon and Denise. They purposely came over before Eng Soon left for his business trip. It was a good time of fellowship.

2nd Day of CNY

We slept till quite late as we reached after midnight the night before at Safari. After washing and dressed up, we headed to my 3rd Aunt's home. Over here is an once a year gathering. As years go by, we hardly met. If it is not someone holding wedding banquet or someone lying in a coffin, we will not gather.

Nevertheless, it is still good catch-up for Lui's family. Most of my cousins are married and some of the kids grew so fast. As usual, Yvonne always got confused with the names of the children. Who cares! Just give the Ang Pao.

The highlight of the day is not this gathering but we (Yvonne & Nathan) heading to Changi Village Hotel for a night stay. Shortly after we checked in, we went for a tea at lounge. We ordered a banana spilt for Nathan and he managed to finish it all by himself!

Dinner time we went to our favourite Changi Hawker Centre. First time we tried gong gong and ate till we 'gong gong'. Guess what my dear son asked for after our dinner, a cup of ice cream for those mobile seller. The way he ate showed that he enjoyed more than the banana spilt he had in the afternoon. If I know it, I should have bought this as it is much much cheaper. :P

After resting a well after dinner, I went for gym. There wasn't any hotel staff there but a group of children running around. This killed my mood to exercise... or rather excuse? :D

In late night, both of us couldn't sleep and we paid for TV movies we watched 4 of them!!!!! Highest record in my life and I am prepared to go for movierathon.

1st Day of New Year

Early in the morning we went to our church for Sunday service. The whole family were all dressed up in our new clothes. See my gorgeous wife in her cheong sum, she received many praises!

After service, we went to my mom's house and Nathan greeted her "Xin nian kuai le, wan shi ru yi." The way that he greeted, can see my son has grown. Around 3pm we proceeded to pick Yvonne's eldest sister, Karen before heading together to my in-law's place.

This year, there wasn't any cooking in my in-law's home. We ordered dinner from Kriston. A set of 8 dishes nicely presented! So anyone who would like to have good food and without hassle at home, do consider Kriston. Highly recommended.

The highlight of the day was going to Night Safari as a big family! With all the nephews and their gfs, there were 13 of us! The animals weren't unusual, nor the show fantastic but we just enjoyed it! Guess it was the people that makes the difference. Seeing each of the nephews growing up and some entering work life this year, I can't deny the fact I am getting old!

New Year Eve

As usual, we had our dinner at my mom's house. This year, other than our family we have Sisi (Yan's friend) joining us for the reunion dinner. It was an asumptious steamboat with lots of my favourite. Thanks to mom for all the hard work.

Who, Me?

There was once a college student who was struggling in many areas of his life. he spent a great deal of his time feeling angry and frustrated. When he could stand it no longer, he went to a dim and seldom-used chapel on campus. He paced up and down the aisles, slapping the back of the empty pews. He yelled, he cried, and he rage at God.

"God you created the world.....what could you possibly have been thinking? look at the problem people face. Look at the pain, suffering, and hunger. Look at the neglect, the waste, the abuse. Everywhere I look, I see messed-up people, hurting people, lonely people!" The young man ranted and raved on and on.....

Finally, exhausted, he sat in the front pew and looked hopelessly at the cross. Its tarnished surface reflected the dusty sunlight filtering in through the stained glass windows. "It all such a mess! This world you created is nothing but a terrible mess! Why even I could make a world better than this one!"

And then the young man heard a voice in the silence of that dusty chapel that his eyes open wide and his jaw drop.

" And that is exactly what I want you to do."

It's easy to identify problems that exist all around us. And sometimes we wonder why God doesn't solve them for all of us. But that's why God created the church. That's why God put us here - at this particular time and place. He has gifted us and given us the power to make a difference in the world.

God has commissioned the church to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a broken world. That's why we are called the "the body of Christ."

Will you do your part?
