So Busy....or sooo Lazy....?

So fast 1 week liao.... (since I last update this blog). Nathan starts school...and here go the "怕输" parents....specially someone lor...(guess who?)...hahaha

Was very busy at work too....trying to complete all those entries of the freshmen....boring but necessary job...

Oh today, Nathan went to watch Transformer, Yvonne and I went for PMC training. Well, the training was ok, quite well organized and informative. Heehee...there are 2 requirements...just find it....worth thinking about.....

Counselor Requirements

  1. To build strong marriage and families, and because more is caught than taught, the PMC counselor has to be exemplary, so that the right values can be caught and passed down.
  2. PMC counselor himself/herself IF MARRIED, has to have a good and stable marriage.
Point 2 stated that IF MARRIED, in other words, the counselor can be single, not married. But how is he/she going to fulfill point 1 because he/she is not able to build a strong marriage, lest talking about his/her marriage and family as an example for the "going-to-be" husband and wife.....err...what I meant is how the new couple going to "catch", they can only be "taught"....

For our pondering .... "Is single (not married) suitable to conduct PMC counseling than?"....

my thought is, can but tough and the couple need to work harder lor......Afterall, it's the Bible principles we are teaching. And the Holy Spirit will guide us and teach us.

3 cheers to all the single doing PMC counseling.........!!!!!

Father's Duties

The very 1st morning at Krabi, God prompted me to read Psalms 78....

v1 O my people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth.....
v3 what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us.
v4 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done....
v6 so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.
v7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.

Whether it is through words of mouth, life style, deeds, or even blogging....as a father we need to boldly declare the glory of the Lord, tell and testify the praise worthy deeds of our Almighty God...so that our children will know Him and put their trust in Him.

So let all fathers shout " HALLELUJAH!" to our sons and daughters (both blood related or spiritual)

How is Pop Culture Changed?

"The beauty of pop culture is that while it may affect us, we still have a hand in creating and changing pop culture. You can shape the behavior, the likes and dislikes, and the values of these around you through ................" (Speech by one of the parliament minister about youth)

A godly culture is a result of godly belief and a heart transformed and subdued by the Word of God. Cultures changes on a daily basis, but the Word of God endures forever. As such the call to the Christian is not to subdue culture through influence, power and position (though there is nothing wrong with using these to be witnesses for Christ and proclaim the Truth). Changing of environment and practices will not changed the hearts of men.

For eg. a nation may have Christian roots and values, but such roots and values will be casted aside as the people of the nation create rules and legalizations that suit their hearts' desires or their pop culture. Unless their hearts are transformed by Jesus.

We can't subdue a lost person heart, but God can if we love them, share Christ with them, show them "Christian culture" (love, faith, hope, unity, generosity, etc).

Bye Bye Krabi - Sat, 9 Jun

Woke up this morning, Yvonne and Nathan went swimming at the pool again. While I was trying to find a bank or money changer to advance some money...cos run low of cash. But couldn't managed to do so.

Oh, before I forgot....yesterday elephant rides include a cave sightseeing...but since it was nothing great to mentioned about, I skipped it completely.

We had a free city tour before we flew back at 7.15pm. The coach came to pick us up at about 12pm. First we went to the marine farm, where you see big fishes and sea horses.....hehe..nothing spectacular to Singapore standard......than 2 local product shops....and since we are tight in budget...we did buy much lah......lunch was next....the duck noddle...Nathan like the soup....

After which was Krabi city tour.....nothing much....bought a power ranger gun for Nathan which caused some problem while checking in.....hahaha...... Tiger cave was next.....we took "many steps" to climb to the lower cave.....which caused Yvonne legs to ache for a few days....lol

And then....home sweet home.......we were so delighted and happy to see Andrew & Karen picking us up at the airport........miss them.........hahaha........

Elephant Ride and More Shopping. Fri, 8 Jun

We woke up the same time this morning despite the pick up time for the elephant ride was 10am.

Had our breakfast in hotel again...it's free mah........ It was the same menu...less than 15 items to pick from........hahaha

We explored the hotel and the beach in front of our hotel before the pick up to elephant ride.

At the far side of the beach was a monkey "gathering place"...lots of monkeys.

There was a steep path at the beach, which I believe will lead to Railey beach....but we gave up trying cos the steps are too steep for Nathan to climb.

Just the few of the monkeys and the steep climb

The tour guy came on time again....and off he went for a long journey to the elephant camp.....

me and Nathan on the jeep

The elephant ride was not that fantastic...maybe we had better ride in Koh Samui years back. But it was a great experience for Nathan......hmm...he siad he sat on one when he was a baby..... ( later we remember had ride on one when he was like 3 or 4 years old in Bintan)

Elephant ride thru the jungle

Yvonne and Nathan feeding the elephant

The whole excursion was like 2 hrs and we were back to Aonang by 1pm. We decided to have McDonald for lunch since Nathan has craving for it.....hahaha. It was a cheap lunch...like less than SGD10 for the 3 of us........on our walk back to hotel we tried some street food....

After lunch, Yvonne proceeded for her manicure after lunch, and I had a massage in the room while Nathan watch CN again.........

It was swimming time, after all those relaxing moments.... we swam at the hotel pool....

We decided before dinner to visit the hotel ES & Denise stayed the last time, so we took a tuk tuk there......nice hotel, but not near to the beach. Than it was followed by shopping and shopping again (envy or not Denise.....). Later we sat down and have ice cream before dinner.......lol

Nathan after all the ice-cream wanted to go to the beach and play..........

The dinner place was beautiful.....outdoor dinning with beautiful sunset..........

Taken during dinner, sunset at Aonang

End our thrid day with more CN and HBO...........

The Very First Morning at Krabi, Thurs, 7 Jun

It's only 6am in the morning, but the sun is bright and clear outside the room....

We took turn to washed up and get ready for our much anticipated Phi Phi islands tour....the underwater camera was on standby....kekeke

View from hotel lobby

Me and Nathan at the exit of the hotel (we were pointing at a puffer fish)

We had our breakfast in the hotel....they served buffet a-la-carte, cos they wanna control waste food....order and they cooked.....

Some of our breakfast items

The tour agency came on time....and off we went to the speed boat jetty......

The ride to the Phi Phi was smooth with occasion of bumpy ride. Nathan Loves those up and "bang" . He was like laughing throughout the whole journey there.

Well, there will be no pics to show here....cos we broke the underwater camera, and all the film was damage.

On a whole, only 2 spots of the snookering trip were worth visiting. The others destination were more for stopover for toilet break. The reef wasn't was colorful as Redang, but are much well preserved. Can see "Nemo", "Dory". etc.......

After the trip, it was shopping and dinner time....! The shops there were all repetition shop....you went one, you seen it all......hahaha....the good thing was we can compared prices.

Dinner was great though. And for the first time we realized Nathan likes fish, and he was ok with the little spicy....hahaha....

Our dinner place...the man displaying a small shark

After which was hotel room, Cartoon Network and HBO all the way...........

Trip to Krabi - Wed, 6 Jun 2007

Left home at 4pm for our flight to Krabi. First time taking budget airline....hehe quite excited about it. Was preapred to rush in and grabed our seats...cos heard the seats are not pre allocated, so was a little 'kiasu'...

The budget terminal was quite nice lah, simple yet neat and efficient. And the seat ARE pre-allocated. ...hahaha
This was Nathan first closed encounter with a plane, and he was very excited....

The 1hr 20 mins flight to Krabi was smooth. We were picked up by our agent, Chai from Seetoh Travel, friendly guy who speaks good english. There were altogether 3 families in the van. In the van, we were given choices of some optional tours.....which we changed from 4 islands tour to Phi Phi Island tour.......we also booked a tour called "Elephant Jungle Trekking" for our 2nd day. 3rd day was free Krabi city tour with visit to marine farm, local product reatils and Tiger Cave.

After checking into our room, which is nice, neat and spacious....we went out for our dinner...good cheap Thai food. After which we took a little stroll along the shop houses....

Nathan the hero...jump out the window....shoot like an arrow...become a hero....again....

Pool view from our room balcony

After shopping we went back to the room......Nathan was thrilled to have cartoon network and was kind of glued to the tv set. While Yvonne & I were excited to have some family time togther.

Krabi Here We Come!!!!!!

It was kind of like a last min decision to go to Krabi, was actually intending to go for a short weekend trip to Batam or Tioman.......but most of the hotels, resorts were fully booked. And we happened to bump into this agency called "Apple Travel", and they have quite a good promo for Krabi.....so we decided to go Krabi!!!!

Yvonne, Nathan and I are flying off tomorrow evening and return on Sat evening..........so keep us in prayer......hehehe

update more when I am back.................

Tonight Prayer Meeting

wah lao.....was really regretting agreeing to do mandarin interpretation for tonight prayer meeting....work was so hectic and plenty of deadlines to meet..... hahaha...perhap because I will be on leave from tomorrow afternoon till Saturday.....Krabi here I come!

Back to the prayer meeting ....dragged myself to the prayer meeting.........but when the worship started, WOW! What a changed....almost immediately, my spirit leaped with joy, strength came in....I was immersed in the presence of my Lord.....hahaha...

The interpretation was was still bad though.......was unable to concentrate, and of course, have not been doing this for like 6 months plus.......keke...rusty liao......like "wake" I interpret as "葬礼" ...which is suppose to be "追缌会".......

But hor, Sis Chun Mei (an elderly lady) was very encouraging, she came up to me and praised me for my good interpretation.......she keep putting her thumb up for me..........hehehe....at least someone understand what I am saying........hahaha........

All that said....I thank God for the opportunity and ability to do interpretation.....quite fun actually..............and the best part is..........is all for His glory!!!!!!

Great is the Lord whom is most worthy of our praise.......
