Expectation!!!!

What is the expectation of God of me when we go to the church? If there is any at all.....

I was prompted this question when I was told that in the following 2 months I am suppose to set up a cell group of 3. Beside myself, the other 2 must be "new converts" that are new to the church......(I wonder if I am God ....)

Am I "EXPECTED" to "perform" ?(wonder if I would have PB for able to achieve the target or goal? ...)

Expectation can be a scary thing, with the right amount of positive expectations, top with encouragements or incentives, its motivate one to move on, find fulfillment and get things done. However, too much expectation (when we are not ready), lack encouragements, will create more stresses, more discouragement, more failures and more tired "workerz".

Encouragement plays a big role in an "expectation". Christians should be encouraged to reached out and not simply give them instructions for them to do so. Just throwing the members what is expected by the church or adding them with what you must do as a Christian are adding more weights to their lives. We are not in church just to fulfilled someone targets (to me it is not an vision at all). Is the pulpit bringing enough encouragement or just dishing out programmes?

When a busy stressed out person comes to church, what is he looking for? More stresses, more expectations, more targets or something else? Why are we attending church than? Why did the early church gather together? Did they gather so that the church will grow in size, or because they wanted to share God's love? Did Peter or Paul instructed the early Christians to invite non believers to their gathering? Or did they gathered to encourage each other in the Lord?

Shouldn't Christians reached out because of God's love; the same love that will touch lost. If it is a job, Christan get burnt out. It should be the love of God that motivate and encourage everyone (not just the leaders) to share the love of God with their friends and family.
